Battery information
Information under the German Batteries Act (BattG / BattG2)
This English version is provided for your convenience. The legally binding version is the German Batteriehinweise.
1. Mandatory information for end users
In connection with the sale and repair of battery-operated devices we are required under the German Batteries Act (BattG / the EU Batteries Regulation that applies from 2024) to inform you of the following.
2. Batteries do not belong in household waste
Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries.
Used batteries can contain substances harmful to the environment and to health if not stored or disposed of properly. On the other hand they contain valuable raw materials such as lithium, iron, zinc, manganese or nickel that can be reused. Proper disposal is therefore required by law.
3. Returning used batteries and rechargeable cells
You may return used batteries and rechargeable cells of the type we sell as new batteries free of charge at:
- our shipping address: FixXpert · Rami Naiim, Rautenstraße 26, 30171 Hannover, Germany (sufficient postage required).
- a public collection point of your city/municipality (e.g. recycling centre).
- collection points in retail (drugstores, electronics stores).
Returns are limited to amounts that end users typically dispose of. Please do not return Li-ion batteries that are visibly damaged, swollen or deformed by mail — bring them to a municipal hazardous waste collection point instead.
4. Meaning of the symbols on batteries
You will find the following markings on batteries and rechargeable cells:
- Crossed-out wheelie bin: this battery/cell must not be disposed of in household waste.
- Pb (lead): the battery contains more than 0.004 % lead.
- Cd (cadmium): the battery contains more than 0.002 % cadmium.
- Hg (mercury): the battery contains more than 0.0005 % mercury.
5. Notes on built-in batteries
Many devices (in particular smartphones, tablets and laptops) contain permanently installed lithium-ion batteries. When you wish to dispose of your device at the end of its life, hand it in completely — including the battery — at a municipal collection point for waste electrical equipment (e.g. recycling centre). The built-in battery will be removed and recycled professionally there.
If we replace a battery during a repair, we will take care of the proper disposal of the old battery free of charge on request.
